iPhone Air — ultra thin + lightweight design
The new iPhone Air is the thinnest iPhone ever made (just ~5.6 mm), yet it’s more durable. Apple used grade‑5 titanium frame, and added Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and back, making it more scratch resistant and better at resisting glare.
Display upgrades
- ProMotion display with 120Hz refresh rate (smoother scrolling / animations) is now broader across models.
- Very high outdoor brightness (≈ 3000 nits) for better readability under sun. Also, adaptive refresh rates down to 1Hz to save battery when static.
Camera improvements
- Rear: 48MP “Fusion” main camera (better low‑light, more detail).
- More versatile telephoto / ultrawide combos.
- Front: New Center‑Stage front cam with a square sensor (better field of view, captures more in frame), plus more stable video.
- Dual Capture (front + rear simultaneously) in some situations.
Performance & chips
- New A19 chip (and A19 Pro in Pro models) built on very efficient architecture — better speed + more energy efficiency.
- New wireless chip N1: supports newer WiFi‑7, Bluetooth 6, better networking performance.
- New modem C1X: faster, more efficient.
Battery life & software smartness
- Despite being thinner, battery life is “all‑day” thanks to internal redesign + software‑level optimisations.
- Adaptive Power Mode in iOS 26 that learns your usage patterns to prolong battery.
iOS 26 & “Apple Intelligence”
- The OS gets more intelligent: Live Translation (text + audio) in Messages / Phone / FaceTime.
- Visual intelligence: you can screenshot something, then search / act on what you’re seeing.
- New features in Phone / Messages apps to reduce unwanted interruptions (spam calls, unknown senders), + improvements across Wallet, Maps, CarPlay, etc.
SIM & connectivity changes
- The iPhone Air has moved to eSIM‑only (no physical SIM tray) — this helps with space internally and adds convenience.
- eSIM also has security benefits (can’t remove if lost/stolen, etc.).
Durability & materials
- More recycled content in materials, more renewable energy in production. Apple is pushing hard on environmental sustainability.
- Stronger scratch resistance, better frame, improved resistance to cracks.
